Toddler (3) drowns after falling in pool

Maxambela said the baby fell into the swimming pool filled with rainwater as it was heavily raining on the day.

MIDVAAL – A toddler (3) was killed following a drowning incident at a residence.
The toddler was rushed to the Midvaal Local Municipality fire brigade for medical assistance by the family on March 29.
According to police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela, police were summoned to the Midvaal Local Municipality fire brigade and on arrival found the lifeless body of a three-year-old boy.
“The toddler was left in the care of the grandmother, who was doing her ironing at the time.”
“The door leading up to the swimming pool is always locked, but unfortunately, the door was left open on the day. The grandmother was not aware that the child had gone out using the door.”
Maxambela said the baby fell into the swimming pool filled with rainwater as it was heavily raining on the day.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and the child was declared dead.
The body was collected by forensic pathology. Police are investigating an inquest.
