SEBOKENG.- On July 25, the police attached to the Sedibeng District officially disposed of liquor that was confiscated from different policing precincts in the Sedibeng District.

The initiative was attended by police officers from the Sedibeng District, Evaton, Meyerton, Ratanda, Sebokeng, Sharpeville, Vereeniging as well as, the office of the premier, MMC of Safety and Security, Liquor Board, Gauteng Traffic, Emfuleni by-laws, Midvaal, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, and Community Policing Forum.

The acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu, led the demonstration of the liquor disposal process, highlighting the collaborative efforts of various police stations throughout the district. Brigadier Nkwashu stated that over 200 000 litres of alcohol had been destroyed during this phase, all of which was seized from individuals and businesses operating without valid liquor licenses.

“Through the dedication of the members, Sedibeng District will continue to curb crime by building strong relationships between police and communities. Their active participation enables them to tap into a collective wisdom and creativity, leading to more effective solutions to local challenges.”

Nkhwashu further emphasised that the disposal event forms part of SAPS’ ongoing efforts, in partnership with local stakeholders, to ensure compliance with liquor regulations and promote public safety in the Sedibeng District.
