Gauteng faces water pressure

High demand forces Rand Water to act fast.

Rand Water has warned that unusually high water consumption in Gauteng, especially in Johannesburg and Tshwane, is placing severe strain on the supply network.

Demand has exceeded allocated volumes, causing parts of the system to operate under pressure and affecting water availability in some areas.

To stabilize the network, Rand Water will reduce supply to municipalities with the highest usage while working to restore normal service in affected communities.

Residents are urged to conserve water wherever possible, and municipalities are encouraged to implement water-saving measures to protect the system’s stability.
