Images surface in Vanderbijlpark murder case

Unverified images circulating online have emerged in the murder investigation of Martha Mani Rantsofu.

VANDERBIJLPARK – Images of a possible person of interest in the Martha Mani Rantsofu murder investigation have surfaced.

Vaalweekblad has decided to blur the individual’s face at this stage as the SAPS has not confirmed the person’s identity or any link to the investigation.

Rantsofu (39), who was employed as an accountant at the Emfuleni Local Municipality, was brazenly shot and killed in broad daylight in Vanderbijlpark on 30 March 2026.

Repeated requests for comment yielded no response at the time of going to press. The police have not confirmed the authenticity of the footage or whether it forms part of the official investigation.

Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said on Wednesday morning that police have not released any information regarding the circulating images.

The footage circulating online appears to show a person at an unidentified location wearing a plastic glove.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) Political Killings Task Team (PKTT), a specialised task team established in 2018, was a specialized unit focused on investigating political assassinations.

At this stage no suspect has been identified or arrested.
