Cycling time trial season kicks off in Randvaal
Riders went head-to-head against the clock on the challenging Bosco Loop in Randvaal.
MIDVAAL – It was an all-out race against the clock when Albion Wheelers Cycling Club opened its 2026 Time Trial Series on April 11.
The event, hosted at Café du Cirque in Randvaal, attracted more than 46 cyclists from across the region.

Competitors powered through the well-known Bosco Loop, many crouched low in aerodynamic positions as they covered approximately 21.73km with an elevation gain of around 152m.

Wijan Nieuwoudt claimed overall victory, completing the course in 28:34:9.

Mikyla Duif was the first female finisher, crossing the line in 34:23:1.

The Albion Wheelers Time Trial Series also forms part of the broader Gauteng Individual Time Trial Series, which includes the Gauteng ITT Championships held in January and the South African National ITT Championships hosted in Walkerville in February.

The best three results out of the five events, together with riders’ Gauteng ITT Championship results, will count towards Gauteng Colours selection.

The remaining events in the series will take place on May 16, June 13, July 11, and August 1.
Albion Wheelers, based in the south of Johannesburg, was established more than 20 years ago and has grown steadily into a club with more than 300 members.
