Albion Wheelers concludes time trial series with Bosco Loop final

Cyclists went full gas as the Albion Wheelers Time Trial Series came to an exciting conclusion on the iconic Bosco Loop.

MIDVAAL – The familiar roads of the Bosco Loop once again echoed with the sound of deep-section carbon wheels and determined riders as the Albion Wheelers Cycling Club brought its 2026 Time Trial Series to a close on August 1.

Hosted by Albion Wheelers Cycling Club at Café du Cirque, the final event saw cyclists tackle one of the South of Johannesburg’s most iconic training routes.

The approximately 27 km course, with around 180 metres of climbing, tested riders against the clock in true individual time trial fashion.

Well known among Gauteng cyclists, the Bosco Loop has become a benchmark route for time triallists and road riders alike.

Mitchell Cullum (30-39) of Albion Wheelers set the fastest men’s time of the day, stopping the clock in 34:44.1.

Team Roadcover DMS rider Wijan Nieuwoudt (19-29) finished just 2.4 seconds behind, while Steve Oberholzer (40-49) of Albion Wheelers claimed third place, 2 minutes and 22 seconds off the pace.

In the women’s competition, Jaclyn Bilson (40+) of Albion Wheelers claimed top honours in 45:00.2.

Claudia Ganhao (40+) finished 1 minute and 4 seconds behind, while Alicia Edelstein of Northcliff, competing in the women’s under-39 category, took third, 3 minutes and 2 seconds off the winning pace.
