Midvaal repairs over 4 500 potholes in September

Pothole repairs rose by 56% in September, according to municipal figures.

MEYERTON – The Midvaal Local Municipality says it repaired a total of 4 524 potholes in September.

This is a significant improvement from August, when 2,900 potholes were repaired, representing a 56% increase in one month.

According to a statement issued by the municipality teams also cleared 3,561 square metres of stormwater infrastructure and 2,904 square metres of weeds.

Work was also carried out on 28 gravel roads, with 15 kilometres of roads regravelled.

Teams from the municipality are also cutting down obstructive trees, trimming vegetation, replacing road signs and painting road markings.

According to the Executive Mayor, Ald. Peter Teixeira the progress is a reflection of the Municipality’s commitment to maintaining our infrastructure and responding to the issues that affect residents on a daily basis.

“Midvaal will continue working to ensure that Midvaal’s roads are safe, well-maintained and kept to the standard that our residents deserve,” Midvaal said.
