SASOLBURG. – The South African Ryu Kyu Martial Arts Federation (SARMAF) National Championship took place at the Harry Ghwala Hall in Zamdela from 3 to 4 June 2022, with more than 300 competitors.
This prestigious event was attended by the Executive Mayor and other Sport Councilors from the Free State, who handed out medals and trophies to the athletes.
Western Cape, Eastern Cape, the various Districts of Gauteng (Western, Northern, Eastern, Southern, and Central Gauteng), the North West Province, and the Free State attended to participate in various categories such as Forms (Kata), Wooden and Bladed Weapons (Kobudo), Team events, traditional Okinawa Fighting Arts, Point and Continue Sparring, Grappling, Close Combat Fighting, Tai Chi and Combat Weapons.

The Vaalpark Martial Art and Fitness Academy under the senior Sensei, James Vermaak, is proud to announce the following medal and trophy count.
Gold medals 72, silver medals 74, bronze medals 29.
