Mighty Warriors prepping for war

Club is a growing force in local mixed martial arts.

VANDERBIJLPARK – Mighty Warriors MMA Club recently received national attention after successfully hosting the SA MMA National Tournament, an event that brought competitors and supporters from across South Africa to the Vaal. The tournament was well-received and further strengthened the club’s reputation as a growing force in local mixed martial arts.

The only fighter from Mighty Warriors who competed at the national event was Quinten Deysel, who delivered an exceptional performance. His hard work and composure paid off as he claimed the title of Lightweight National Champion, a proud moment for both himself and the club.

While Deysel celebrated his victory, the rest of the gym’s top athletes continue to prepare for their professional bouts. Josiah Obasi, who is competing in the light heavyweight division, remains focused on sharpening his skills ahead of his next fight.

Brandon Santos, the club’s flyweight professional, is deep in camp as he builds toward another appearance in the cage. Kevin Nsiona, currently the No. 1 welterweight contender in the Versus promotion, is also hard at work as he aims to capitalise on his ranking and push toward a title opportunity.

Their collective progress has attracted outside interest. Vaalweekblad recently visited the gym to catch up with these rising fighters and produced a video package covering their training and preparations. The visit highlighted the momentum within Mighty Warrior as both amateur and professional athletes continue to climb the ranks.

With a national champion in its midst and several professionals on the rise, Mighty Warriors MMA Club is cementing its role as one of the Vaal’s most respected and fast-growing combat sports institutions.
