Cassper up against AKA, Black Coffee for BET award

Could fate be on the South African side this year and give us our first award?

Mzansi artists Cassper Nyovest, AKA and Black Coffee have all been nominated for the 2016 American BET awards which will be awarded next month, on June 26.

The three local talents will compete in the Best International Act: Africa category at the awards that will be held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. They are coming up against the likes of Nigerian superstar Wizkid, Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Mzvee (Ghana), and Serge Beynaud (Cote d’lvoire).

Excited about the news, Motswako rapper Cassper Nyovest took to Instagram to express how grateful he was to be nominated.  “Look at God!!! Words cannot express how grateful I am to have such a loving God!!! All the glory to him!!! Let’s bring the first South African BET home!!! This is for all the independent artists out there!!! For all the African kids with a dream!!!,” he jotted down.

The two rival rappers AKA and Cassper Nyovest were nominated at the same awards last year, but sadly neither of them brought home a statuette.

Nonetheless, good luck guys. All the best!
