Azania Mosaka hands the 702 baton over to Relebogile Mabotja

After 20 years on the air, Azania will now direct her energy toward her philanthropic work. Her last day on air will be this Friday.

After 20 years behind the mic, South African media personality and businesswoman Azania Mosaka has decided to call it a day and hand over the baton to talk show host and broadcaster Relebogile Mabotja.

According to a statement issued by Primedia, which owns talk radio station 702, Azania will now focus her energy on her philanthropic work.

Her last day on air will be this Friday.

“As they say, all good things must come to an end. After 20 years of radio, I am stepping away from the microphone to pick up the active citizenry baton through my NGO, Peo Impact Gardens, in Soweto,” said Azania in a statement.

“My next includes supporting four pillars in our communities: health  –  through our vegetable garden, body and  soul – through our breathwork offering and mind – via the library program [sic],” she added.

After reflecting on her time at 702, a time she says she loved, Azania said she was looking forward to moving into a space of implementation, physically and actively doing community outreach and using her voice to raise the profile of communities in need.

“Azania has contributed significantly to 702’s success over the last six years. We will miss her and wish her well as she continues to walk the talk through her NPO work,” commented 702 station manager, Mzo Jojwana.

“We are thrilled to welcome Relebogile Mabotja back to the station. We know her voice, fearlessness and ability to listen and really connect with our listeners will once again hit the right note with our audience,” he added, announcing who would be taking over from Azania.

Relebogile is no stranger to Primedia. She is an accomplished radio, TV and news personality who has hosted many a show (namely the Early Breakfast show between 2017 and 2019) and stood in for her colleagues at 702.

She will officially make her big return to the station next Monday and will fill the 1-pm-3pm slot on weekdays.

“I look forward to stepping back behind the 702 microphone and growing with the audience as we walk the talk together. Listeners can look forward to light, irreverent and meaningful conversations. I am happy to be back home,” said Relebogile.

As the owner of a successful and growing YouTube channel and SABC3 show called Unpacked With Relebogile, Relebogile has found her niche when it comes to the talk format.

You can listen to 702 on 92.7FM or 106FM, DStv Channel 856 or stream live via 702.co.za.
