Celebrities who should get their own reality shows

New reality shows pop up all the time and many of them fail because they’re simply not interesting enough.

A ‘good’ reality show only needs to be one thing – full of drama. Here are local celebrities who could make some real money from all the drama in their lives.

1. Somizi Mhlongo

Here’s the thing, the drama in Somizi’s life is his personality. He is larger than life and incredibly funny (when he’s not on Idols). If you follow him on Instagram, you’ll see that he lives in a fabulous house and when he’s not working; travelling and drinking champagne while going to the gym. It would be interesting to have a sneak peek into his life as a son to the legendary actress, Mary Twala. Somizi is also a father to a teenager who is a spitting image of him – is he a strict father? Does she hope to follow in his footsteps? If a reality show could answer some of these questions – I would be glued to my screen!

2. Kelly Khumalo

Kelly is one of the few celebrities who doesn’t give a damn what people say – and her fans love her for that. She’s never denied the controversial things she’s been accused of (drug abuse, skin bleaching and being involved with a married man), in fact she’s spoken openly about many of them. What we don’t get to see in the tabloids is what she’s like as a mother to her son Christian and daughter, Thingo. She got back to work, just weeks after her boyfriend, Senzo Meyiwa, was murdered at her mother’s house last year, how has she been handling it all?

3. AKA and DJ Zinhle

These two have been hiding their relationship for years before they finally went public earlier this year, and now they’re parents! They’ve apparently moved in together into a new house and AKA’s mother helps out regularly with the baby. The rapper always has a lot to say on Twitter, is he the same at home? And since he’s such a hard worker (performing almost everywhere), how often is he home? Zinhle has always been among the more reserved celebrities, it would be great to see what she’s like as a mom and a girlfriend to another musician.

4. Athandwa Kani and Fikile Mthwalo

They shocked many of us when they made their relationship public a few weeks ago. Athandwa recently got separated from Anele Mdoda’s sister, Thembisa Mdoda, after reports she’d cheated on him. The couple never announced their separation but when Kani started calling fellow actress, Fikile, the love of his life on Instagram, it was clear that they were over. Kani has been defending his relationship furiously on social networks where many people have called it a “rebound relationship”. Whatever the case may be, these two look really happy together.

5. DJ Sbu

The first question that this reality show should answer is: What does DJ Sbu’s house look like? Sbu made headlines after reports that he had flaunted a rented home on an episode of Top Billing and made people believe that it was his own. He’s in the tabloids all the time, how does he react to them? Above everything else, a lot of people would be really interested to see just how he handles his business and makes his money. It also wouldn’t hurt to let us in on his love life.
