Uncle Waffles’ star keeps rising as Beyoncé includes Waffles’ ‘Tanzania’ to her set

Beyoncé kicked off her Renaissance World Tour in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, and included Uncle Waffles’ 2022 released hit 'Tanzania' to her set.

The Renaissance World Tour is Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s first solo headline tour since 2016 and the superstar entertainer included one of Uncle Waffles’ hits in her set that has left the Eswatini born amapiano lass gushing at Queen Bey’s co-sign.

The South African DJ and record producer took to her Instagram stories on Wednesday to express her delight at her song being used in Beyoncé’s set.

In the performance, Beyoncé’s dancers can be seen pulling off some South African moves to Tanzania infused with Kendrick Lamar’s Alright.

Waffles season

It’s been quite an interesting time for Uncle Waffles, whose real name is Lungelihle Zwane. In late March Uncle Waffles released her seven-track album titled Asylum, which was certified gold.

She made history this year by being the first amapiano DJ to perform on one of the main stages at the renowned Coachella music festival in the US. Coachella takes place for two weekends, in a space of three-days each weekend. Waffles performed four times at this year’s Coachella.

A video of Waffles with Grammy award winning singer Ciara dancing to Waffles’ Yahyuppiyah had millions of views in just a few days. Last year Uncle Waffles made headlines when Canadian rapper and global superstar Drake mentioned her in an Instagram story, to his millions of fans. This sparked rumours of the two artists dating, but that unfounded gossip seems to have fizzled with time.

Queen Bey’s world domination

The Renaissance World Tour is expected to cover 57 stadium dates globally, as it kicked-off last night in Stockholm. The tour by the Destiny’s Child singer is expected to gross as much as $2.4bn (about R45bn) by the time the tour ends in New Orleans in September.

The last time Beyoncé was on tour was in 2018 with husband, Jay-Z, in their On the Run II tour. As with her seventh studio album Renaissance released last year, Beyoncé’s show last night is reported as being a celebration of early house and techno. Artists tend to tweak their performances for each night on their tours, but it’s to be seen if more of Waffles’ hits will make it on to Beyoncé’s sets on this four-month long tour that will see her perform in various continents.
