Simba Mhere’s  memorial service is being streamed live from Rhema Bible Church in Randburg. Zimbabwean born Mhere passed away in a car accident along with his friend Kady-Shay O’bryan.

It was reported he was on his way to the airport to attend the J&B Met.  Police spokeswoman Superintendent Edna Mamonyane had this to say about it.

“A VW Polo that had got off the N1 in Fourways, crossed over the middle island and crashed into Simba’s side. Simba was driving and the strong impact killed Simba and a passenger sitted upfront,” said Mamonyane

It has since been announced that the driver of the VW polo will be charged with culpable homicide and reckless and negligent driving.

Simba’s former high school, Rand Park  High School posted this touching tribute  with pictures,on their facebook page:

“On behalf of the entire Rand Park High family, we are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Simba Mhere and extend our deepest condolences to his family.

Simba was a well-respected learner at Rand Park High School. He was appointed as a Leader in 2006 and matriculated that year with Full Colours for Athletics. Simba was an active cricketer and rugby player too.

We will miss Simba’s ongoing support for our school; the regular phone calls he made each year to ask us how he could be involved in our activities; his role as a judge at our Mr and Miss Rand Park pageant and the coaching sessions he offered to our athletes in years gone by.

His warm personality, kind spirit and zest for life will be sorely missed.”
