Millie Bobby Brown's apparent engagement announcement has sparked a conversation about getting married young.

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown has announced that she is to marry her long-term boyfriend Jake Bongiovi.

The 19-year-old actress took to Instagram to post a picture of herself with Bongiovi — the son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi.

The line is from Taylor Swift’s hit “Lover.”

Bongiovi also posted the announcement on his page.

‘Partner for life’

The couple has been an item for around two-and-a-half years, and social media speculation over an announcement has swirled for weeks.

Brown has previously called Bongiovi her “partner for life.”

The British actress rose to global fame as the character Eleven in the Netflix hit Stranger Things, the fifth season of which is expected shortly.

Bongiovi, 20, is an actor who stars in the forthcoming comedy Rockbottom.

‘He’s a nepo baby’

Reactions to the engagement news have ranged from cute and congratulatory to downright spicy as Twitter users shared their unfiltered opinion on the news. Check out what social media users had to say.

SA socialite Mohale Motaung pokes fun at marrying young

Never one to shy away from addressing the reasons that he has previously made headlines for, South African socialite and businessman poked fun at advice about not marrying young.

In a response to a trending question about unpopular opinions, Twitter user @CoconutShawarma asked “What’s an unpopular opinion which can get you in this position?”

Twitter influencer @MphoMoalamedi responded: “No one under the age of 23 should be getting married. You’re too young.”

Mohale responded to Mpho’s tweet with a meme of himself holding back tears. The meme is an image from the Showmax wedding special that documented his marriage to controversial celebrity choreographer and reality TV star, Somizi Mhlongo.

The pair got married in 2020 and their nuptials were documented in a three-part special titled Somizi and Mohale: The Union. They split less than two years later, dominating headlines for almost a year before resolving their dispute earlier this year.
