The Kiffness robbed twice during US tour

At least R100 000 worth of equipment was stolen out of his van, leading to The Kiffness cancelling his show in Detroit.

South Africa’s famous cat collaborator, David Scott, or better known to his fans as The Kiffness, has cancelled a show in the US after he was robbed while on tour.

Scott cancelled the planned gig in Detroit after he was robbed twice in the region.

He started his tour in September this year in Europe before proceeding to the US towards the end of October. Starting in Washington, proceeding to Philadelphia and then New York (where he was even visited by Whoopi Goldberg), Scott was due to do a show in Detroit on Tuesday.

Speaking to the Fox News, Scott said he had arrived in Detroit and thought he had parked his van in a secure place when it was broken into.

Equipment

“Unfortunately, quite a lot of gear got taken,” he said.

It was reported that R100 000 worth of equipment was stolen from the van.

Scott said while one of his employees was in the process of removing valuable items from the car after the break-in, another perpetrator confronted him to take the keys to the vehicle.

The unknown man then entered through the shattered window with the intention of pilfering more of Scott’s possessions.

Fortunately, Scott said the second perpetrator was caught: “It gets worse… Our merch guy was getting what was left out of the car now [and] someone tried to take the keys from him, but he ran away [and] called the police.

“Luckily, they detained him while he was looting the car. Our poor merch guy is in shock,” he posted on his X account.

Cancelled show

Scott apologised to fans for the cancelled show.

“I’m very sorry to inform my fans in Detroit that tonight’s show’s been cancelled due to gear being stolen out of our van.

“Between getting a new van, new equipment, police reports, we just don’t have enough time to get the show ready.

“Refunds [are] available at point of purchase,” he posted.
