Ciara in Jo’burg for one night only

American pop star Ciara will be performing in Johannesburg for one night only this weekend.

The ‘Body Parts’ hitmaker is scheduled to perform at upmarket Jo’burg nightclub Hush on Saturday night, 16 November, for an exclusive birthday party which will also include appearances by local artists.

According to the Sowetan, the event is open to the public, who will be able to buy tickets at the door on the evening of the party, for R150 before midnight and R300 after.

Born Ciara Princess Harris in Texas, the American singer- songwriter, dancer, actress, and model made her foray into music as a member of an all-girl group called Hearsay. She branched off into songwriting when the group disbanded and was later approached by Jazze Pha, who noticed her talent after she had written songs for several established acts.

With his help, Ciara signed with La Face Records and started working on her debut album ‘Goodies’, which was released in 2004. She went on to release three more albums with this label, before signing with Epic Records and releasing her eponymous fifth album in 2013.

She names Destiny’s Child and Janet Jackson as the inspiration behind her decision to pursue a career in music, citing Jackson and her brother Michael as her biggest inspirations.
