K.O finally gets his Metro FM award in his home province

Three years ago, K.O was the most nominated artist at the Metro FM awards with seven nods but walked away empty-handed.

Rapper K.O finally won a Metro FM award in his home province of Mpumalanga after being named the Best Hip-Hop artist.

“The fact that it’s in my province and apparently this is the last Metro FM awards in Mpumalanga is a beautiful moment,” K.O told The Citizen after accepting his award.

7 nods but no win

Three years ago, K.O was the most nominated artist at the Metro FM awards with seven nods but walked away empty-handed.

However, on the third and final year of the Metro FM awards being held in his home province, K.O finally got his Metro FM award.

More than a win

Real name Ntokozo Mdluli, the rap artist hails from Mpumalanga and said winning the award in his home province means more.

“I got family in the crowd. My family is from the far east of the province. The fact that they drove all the way up here to witness the moment is quite encouraging for me.”

Themed Crowning Greatness, the Metro FM awards were held at Mpumalanga’s Mbombela stadium for the final year after being hosted in the province for three years.
