Mampintsha is looking for kids to play him and Babes Wodumo

Mampintsha wants to run a casting competition for his next music video.

Just when you thought the ongoing saga involving Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo couldn’t get any stranger, the record boss has announced he’s looking for children to play himself and the singer.

Yes, really.

In a report on TimesLive, Mampintsha revealed that West Ink Records is looking for kids between the ages of 6 and 9 to play him and Babes in an upcoming music video shoot. You couldn’t make it up.

The record boss told Instagram this week that his label didn’t want to use a casting agency to find actors for the video. Rather, he said, they wanted to give fans a chance to star in it.

“If you feel your kid or cousin is perfect for one of these roles simply post a video of her/him singing Amaketanga and tag @west_ink_records & s_h_i_m_o_r_a,” he posted. The results of the competition will be announced on June 29th.

In two short months the Mampintsha and Babes timeline has gone from tragic, to disturbing to flat out bizarre. Since an interview with Babes on Metro FM alleged she’d suffered physical abuse at the hands of Mampintsha last month, fans have watched their Instagram accounts have blown kisses back and forth, heard that the pair of them owe money for a concert they never performed at and witnessed a lengthy open letter from Mampintsha declaring his undying love for Babes.

And now this. Do we dare say: what on earth is going to happen next?
