ULTRA South Africa unveils stacked phase 1 line-up for 9th edition

In 2024, the festival is happening for the ninth time in South Africa, and it's bringing some of the biggest names in global dance music.

Africa’s most extensive electronic music festival, Ultra South Africa, has revealed the impressive Phase 1 lineup for its 2024 edition.

In 2024, the festival marks its ninth edition in South Africa, bringing some of the biggest names in global dance music to South African audiences.

Ultra South Africa is a two-day electronic music festival held in Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa.

It stands as the largest electronic music festival in Africa and is a key component of Ultra Music Festival’s global expansion, spanning across twenty countries.

Scheduled for Friday, 1 March 2024, at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town and Saturday, 2 March 2024, at the Expo Centre at Nasrec in Johannesburg, ULTRA South Africa 2024 boasts a stellar roster of international heavyweights and seasoned performers.

Star-studded headliners

Among the headliners are Skrillex, an eight-time GRAMMY award winner; Dutch icon Afrojack; the stadium-filling sensation Steve Aoki; and the Dutch progressive duo W&W.

Adding to the excitement, Brazilian DJ/producer Vintage Culture will be making his inaugural appearance at ULTRA South Africa, taking the spotlight at the RESISTANCE Stage.

Promise of excellence

Following its record-breaking attendance in 2023, ULTRA South Africa 2024 pledges to uphold the renowned ULTRA Worldwide standard by delivering top-tier electronic talent, cutting-edge technology, and grand-scale productions.

The 2024 edition of the festival will witness the return of headlining acts Skrillex, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, and W&W, all set to grace South Africa once again.

In an added highlight, ULTRA South Africa is thrilled to announce the participation of South African stars Major League DJz and Shimza, who will bring their distinctive approach to African dance music, contributing an extra layer of excitement to this year’s stage.

Skrillex’s return and Afrojack at Ultra South Africa

Skrillex, the music genius, is coming back to Ultra South Africa to wow the crowd with his unique beats and mind-blowing music.

At the same time, Afrojack is gearing up to bring a ton of energy and give South African fans a show they won’t forget. With his exciting stage presence and hit songs, the dance floor is in for a great time.

Steve Aoki, the famous entertainer and cake-throwing enthusiast, is a well-known figure. His lively and contagious energy is sure to light up Ultra South Africa, offering an electrifying show with his trademark cake-throwing excitement and a diverse blend of beats.

As for W&W, the dynamic pair recognised for their progressive and trance anthems, they will guide festival attendees on a musical journey through the euphoric landscapes of electronic music. Fans should brace themselves for a performance from this dance duo that will leave them wanting more.

Local legends shine

Adding to this outstanding roster, Major League DJz and Shimza, both renowned figures in the South African dance music scene, will be in the spotlight as headliners. They will bring an extra touch of local essence to the global spectacle, with their beats reverberating through the Ultra stages, celebrating the lively and diverse landscape of African dance music.
