Come out and play with Westville Theatre Club

Auditions for the One Act Play Festival at the Westville Theatre Club begin soon!

THE Westville Theatre Club will host the Durban One Act Play Festival 2020 and has called on all theatre enthusiasts to sign up.

“We, as a community theatre, strive to develop the skills and craft of anyone who shows a passion for theatre,” said the club’s Dorothy O’Neill.

This year’s festival will host 12 one-act plays spread across three groups. Participants are welcome and encouraged to audition for more than just one play and rehearsals will be held at the Westville Theatre Club.

Prepare a monologue (a maximum of five minutes) or audition using the pieces provided at the venue. No singing or dancing auditions will be required as this is a pure acting festival. Participants are encouraged to take along a pen and notepad.

“Please note that this is a community theatre and nobody gets paid for any participation,” said Dorothy.

Show dates will be at the end of April this year and the first week in May. Applicants need to be available for these two weekends as well as the rehearsal period.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, 25 January from 2pm to 4pm; Sunday, 26 January from 12pm to 4pm and on Monday, 27 January from 6pm to 8pm.

More information on the plays will be released on Monday, 20 January.
