Progressive Olma on the rise

A competitive night of racing faces punters at Greyville tonight and all eyes for a banker will be on Olma in Race 5, a Graduation Plate for fillies and mares over 1800m.

The Frank Robinson trained filly is weighted to win this easily as she would be giving 4 kg and more to her rivals were this a handicap. To further add to her value her current merit rating of 89 does looks low for what she has done this season.

Both the step up in trip to this distance (beat subsequent winner Imbuta Castrum by 4.75 lengths) and this surface (thrashed Too Much Fun by 5 lengths). Jockey Anton Marcus was aboard the filly for both of those wins and rides again and the Dynasty filly has a good draw of stall No 2.

Recent maiden winners on this track Assimilation and Shivrani are clearly improving so may be better than their current merit-rating but will need to do more to beat Olma.

Iswithi put some disappointing form behind her when runner-up to Lily’s Rush last time and may be heading towards her best form so can be considered for a minor place.

Stable companion to Olma, Storm Coast clearly does not have the same scope as Olma but is recently much improved so can also get into a battle for a minor place.

Lady Redoute is second best at the weights and only got tired very late last time so can improve so is another who has to be respected.
