Deciding on your wedding dress, venue, flowers and food is already a complicated affair – enough to turn any blushing bride into a full-blown bridezilla.
That’s why, for the sake of your stress levels and those around you, you’ll want the important decision of choosing your bridal jewellery to be as simple (yet effective) as possible. The primary rule to stick to is not to over-do your bridal jewellery. Rather select a few pieces that complement your wedding dress instead of competing with it for attention.
Here are a few more tips on choosing jewellery for your big day:
Ivory Gowns
A soft light white with a yellow undertone, this candlelight shade gown goes beautifully with vibrant, gold jewellery or yellow diamonds.
Diamond-White Gowns
Rose gold, pearl and platinum go best with this off-white colour.
White Gowns
Platinum, Tanzanite and pearl are the best choices for white wedding dresses, plus the Tanzanite can double as your “something blue”.
Strapless
You should choose a delicate neckpiece to accentuate your neck line and shoulders or keep it simple with a beautiful pendant if you’re planning on wearing a more elaborate pair of earrings or hairstyle.
Sleeves or straps
If your dress has straps, cupped shoulders or sleeves, it may not be necessary to consider a neckpiece. Rather look for earrings that are a little more intricate.
Veils
If you’re wearing a headpiece like a veil or tiara, take it into the jewellery store with you – especially when selecting earrings. You want the pieces to enhance each other, not contend with each other.
Think long term
You’ll want to keep your bridal jewellery for sentimental reasons which is why you should buy quality that will last a lifetime and choose jewellery that you can wear on multiple occasions and even possibly pass onto your daughter for her ‘something borrowed.’
