Heatwave: Cool down with tea

If mocktails aren't your thing, make these a little sluttier with the liquor of your choice.


While South Africans are wiping sweat from their brows during the torrid heat wave gripping the country, why not brew yourself some tea to cool down? Thanks to the following tea-based mocktail recipes you’ll be able to grab some tea and chill.

Blueberry and apple mocktail

Serves: 4

Ingredients
. 2 bags of Twinings Blueberry and apple tea bags
. 500ml boiling water
. 500ml soda water
. 1 lime, chopped
. 2 sprigs of mint
. 50ml blueberries
. Ice to serve

* Pour the boiling water over the tea bags and allow the bags to draw for 4
minutes, remove the bags and allow to tea to cool down. Once cool place into
the refrigerator to chill.
* Add the soda, lime, mint and blueberries.
* Fill glasses with ice and fill with the tea.

Spiced Earl Grey iced Tea

Earl Grey Horizontal

Serves: 4

Ingredients
. 2 Twinings Earl Grey Tea bags
. 500ml boiling water
. 500ml Sparkling water
. Small piece fresh ginger, finely sliced
. 1 star anise
. 1 sprig of mint
. Ice to serve

* Pour the boiling water over the tea bags and allow it to draw for 4
minutes, remove the bags and allow the tea to cool down, once cool place the
tea into the refrigerator to chill.
* Add the sparkling water, ginger, star anise and mint, allow it to fuse for
10 minutes.
* Fill the glasses with ice and fill the glass with iced tea.
