Experience a South African classic with boerie rolls topped with hearty baked beans and spicy chakalaka


This easy, flavourful meal combines juicy boerewors sausages in soft rolls, complemented by robust beans and a tangy vegetable relish. Perfect for gatherings or quick dinners, it delivers satisfying taste and a touch of tradition.

Ingredients

  • Oil
  • 1 onion, cut into rings
  • 500g boerewors
  • 2 cups slaw mix
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Hot dog rolls
  • 1 tin baked beans in chakalaka sauce
  • Coriander for garnish

Method

  1. Fry the onions until golden and caramelised.
  2. Fry the boerewors.
  3. Warm the chakalaka baked beans.
  4. Mix the slaw and mayonnaise and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Slice the hot dog rolls and fill with slaw, onions, boerewors, and finally baked beans.
  6. Garnish with coriander.

  • Albany Hot dog Rolls
  • 1 tin KOO Baked Beans in Hot Chakalaka Sauce
  • Coriander for garnish

Instructions

  3. Warm the chakalaka baked beans in hot chakalaka sauce.
  4. Mix the slaw and mayonnaise and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Slice the hot dog rolls and fill with slaw, onions, boerewors, and finally KOO Baked Beans in Hot
  6. Chakalaka Sauce.
  7. Garnish with coriander.
