Notes from the beauty desk – Spring locks

When it comes to spring, bouncy and beautiful locks can't be missed.

And the beauty houses are addressing this. Within the space of a few weeks, my inbox has been flooded with new products or information. Three caught my eye.
1.Choccoaddict
L’Oréal Paris hair colour launched its exciting new #Choccoaddict campaign with the announcement of Aisha Baker as the local ambassador for Casting Crème Gloss. The young Cape Town fashion blogger and digital entrepreneur is fast becoming an authority on the local fashion scene.

“We were totally mesmerised by Aisha’s striking beauty and gentle but confident nature. She embodies the young and fashion-forward Casting Crème Gloss consumer who loves to experiment with different hair colours without the commitment of a permanent colour,” says Theresa van Rooyen, senior product manager for L’Oréal Paris Hair.

L’Oréal Paris Casting Crème Gloss is a non-permanent, no ammonia colourant that gives your hair shimmering tones and a glossy shine for natural-looking healthy hair. L’Oréal Paris has launched an online campaign in which the public will select a Casting Crème Gloss Choccoaddict shade for Aisha.

Her hair colour will be changed to the winning shade and her image will be on the packaging of the particular shade, which will then be available in-store.

Visit the L’Oréal website to help select a shade for Aisha and to stand a chance to win a Lindt Studio chocolate tour, Lindt vouchers and L’Oréal Paris product hampers for you and a friend. The competition closes on September 4 .
2. Kardashian Beauty
Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian West, Khloe Kardashian and hair care company Farouk Systems, Inc have launched Kardashian Beauty, a complete line that will feature professional, salon quality hair styling products, tools and brushes at an approachable price point.

Now, before you go rolling your eyes, these products are said to include innovative ingredients designed to create styles for signature Kardashian looks.

“Farouk Systems is a company of hairdressers dedicated to creating beauty, new trends and innovative styling products, so the partnership with Kourtney, Kim and Khloé to introduce Kardashian Beauty was a natural fit,” said Basim Shami, CEO of Farouk Systems, Inc.

“Our team worked hand-inhand with the sisters to create a premium product line directly inspired by their iconic styles and individual hair needs .”

3. Vichy Dercros Hair Renewal Treatment
Lastly, the Vichy Dercos Hair Renewal Treatment may look like something from a lab – it is – but this product works with the three phases of hair loss: the dormant phase, the stem cell phase and Stemoxydine.

When hair falls out the hair bulb becomes empty, but with the Dercos Neogenic product the cell can be reawakened and new hair can begin to grow, off ering density and thickness.

The product contains capsules which can be used over a three-month period. This helps stimulate growth and the thickness of the hair. The product is supported by a shampoo and conditioning system.
Product of the week
What is it: Maybelline Baby Lips Dr Rescue
What does it do: After one week of using this lip balm, my lips felt moisturised and alive. Thanks to winter, they had taken a knock, but using the balm you will be sure to feel a real difference.
It contains ingredients like shea butter and eucalyptus. It’s available from leading retailers.
