Huawei unveils ‘environmentally friendly’ GT 4 smartwatch

Smartwatches have become more than just a wearable timepiece, but rather a mini-computer on your wrist that plays a viTal role in your health and everyday life according to Huawei.
The Chinese company unveiled its latest wearable the Watch GT 4 in South Africa on Wednesday.
While feature packed smart watches like the Apple Watch have peaked to exorbitant prices with the top the range Ultra at R19 799, Huawei has maintained a competitive edge over its rivals retailing for about R7 000.
Environmentally friendly
Huawei South Africa Consumer Business Group’s VP of Operations, Akhram Mohamed said the new wearable isn’t a typical smartwatch and is environmentally friendly.
“The Forest Green really stand out in terms of the materials which is ecofriendly. There is specific reason why we chose that colour, not just because it looks so beautiful but its also good for the environment.
“The strap has been made using reclaimed and recycled plastics and nylons that are ocean bound and use these materials so that we can give back to the environment,” Mohamed said.

For those who prioritise their health, the Huawei Watch GT 4 includes upgraded sensors that provide precise data.

Healthy lifestyle
With an emphasis on leading a healthy lifestyle, the device transforms the smartwatch fitness experience with its improved Activity Rings and upgraded Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) tracking, with the new TruSeen 5.5+ that brings AI-powered accuracy to health measurement.
The smart wearable also beats the competitors with a longer battery life of up to 14 days for 46mm while the 41mm version can last up to 7 days,
While many users will be concened whether the device pair with Android and iOS, Huawei said the watch is easy to sync with both platforms and takes about a minute.
The Huawei Watch GT 4 is available in two sizes and designs: the 46mm octagonal bezel and the 41mm version, resembling a chic bracelet.
Both sizes offer three colour options and allow for customization with Huawei Easyfit Straps and watch faces.
