Dr Tumi fills up the Dome

He delivered on his promise to fill up the Dome to capacity for his live DVD recording The Gathering of Worshippers.

Multi-platinum-selling and award-winning gospel artist Dr Tumi has made gospel history by filling up the 20 000-seat Ticketpro Dome on Sunday.

Dr Tumi is a vocal powerhouse and prolific songwriter who has taken the gospel scene by storm and getting the music industry to sit up and notice his talent.

In just 12 months he has won 13 awards, making him one of the most exciting and most watched talents.

Having sold out all tickets, the gospel genius delivered on his promise to fill up the dome to capacity for his live DVD recording titled The Gathering of Worshippers. His two albums, Love & Grace and Heart of a King, have turned him into a household name.

As a trained medical doctor turned gospel singer and a recipient of Crown Gospel Awards and Metro FM Music Awards, Dr Tumi recently signed an international deal with Universal Music, which will see his music released around the world.

The glittering night of music held in Northgate, northern Johannesburg, attracted the who’s who of gospel, media and government, as well as supporters throughout South Africa and neighbouring countries.

Dr Tumi effortlessly delivered his energetic, sincere and uplifting two-and-a-half hour set from a hi-tech stage with a full live band. He kept the capacity crowd on their feet with a hit parade of sing-along songs that made him a household name in contemporary gospel.

Expressing his gratitude for his achievement, the Dr turned gospel singer went on to thank his supporters and his higher source of belief.

“Last night [Sunday] has been a manifestation of God’s grace. This show stood on the shoulders of my supporters who have generously backed my career. Thank you, family, I can never thank you enough for all that you’ve done for me.”

The proud artist further added how this achievement should be noted as proof that anything is possible for the African child.

“Let this be further proof that ‘black child it’s possible, all you have to do is dream’ ”. – kgosim@citizen.co.za
