Long weekend N4 traffic heavy but decreasing

Hundreds of vehicles are passing through various toll gates on the N4 per hour.

MBOMBELA – According to the latest statistics, traffic on the roads between the Lowveld and Gauteng has decreased, but is still congested. This was confirmed by TRACN4’s Twitter feed this evening.

At 14:00, 700 motor vehicles were registered at the Nkomazi Toll Plaza per hour. One thousand three hundred and twenty vehicles passed through the Machado Toll Plaza, 1 240 at Middelburg Plaza and 1 010 at Diamondhill Plaza.

At 17:12, 570 vehicles were registered passing through the Nkomazi Toll Plaza per hour. At the Machado Toll Plaza, 1 010 vehicles passed through. A total of 2 350 passed through the Middelburg Plaza per hour and 1 360 at Diamondhill Plaza.

Three quarters of an hour later, traffic passing through the Nkomazi Toll Plaza had increased slightly to 610 per hour. Sevenhundred and seventy were counted at the Machado Toll Plaza. At the Middelburg Plaza, 2 150 cars passed through per hour and 1 271 were counted at the Diamondhill Toll Plaza.

By 19:00, traffic had decreased to such an extent that only 580 vehicles passed through the Nkomazi Toll Plaza per hour. The Machado Toll Plaza registered 590 per hour. At Middelburg’s Toll Plaza, 1 940 vehicles passed while 1 130 vehicles passed through the Diamond Hill Plaza per hour.
