Will Football return? Local players are eager to find out
Local teams participating in the GladAfrica Championship and the ABC Motsepe Promotional League may have to wait longer for football to commence.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) and the South African Football Association (SAFA) are scheduled to meet later this week to deliberate on the future of the beautiful game.
The league season was abruptly halted due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Both the PSL and SAFA will discuss ways to finish the current football season. Nsikazi is represented by two teams in the country’s second-biggest football league, the GladAfrica Championship, Mbombela United and TS Sporting.
Just before the league was put on hold, Mbombela United was position 14 on the table with
23 points after having played
24 games.

TS Sporting, on the other hand, was in position 13 with 24 points after 23 games.
Both teams stood a great chance of avoiding relegation, as there were about 21 points to play for before the season came to an end.
Initially, the PSL had proposed that matches go ahead, but behind closed doors once government has lowered Covid-19 risk to level 3.
It is currently not clear at this stage whether government will allow football to commence or not, whether the PSL would consider finishing the season with the current status or if they want to wait until the country is on level 1.
