MBOMBELA – The criminal charge against Pumas player, Mr Wilmaure Louw, was provisionally withdrawn in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court recently. This is due to a lack of evidence against the accused.
Louw was charged with pointing a gun at Mr Gabby Oliviera in April this year. This followed after the two had an argument outside Legends, a local pub, at 02:30 on March 31.
According to De Oliviera, the argument got heated and Louw pointed a handgun at him. Louw appeared in court shortly after the incident and the case was postponed a handful of times.
Pieter Nel attorneys’ Mr Juan Terblanche, confirmed that the case against his client had been withdrawn provisionally. “The withdrawal was due to a lack of evidence,” he said.
“Regardless of the lacking evidence against Louw, he has already suffered greatly as a result of this malicious complaint instituted against him. His contract with the Mpumalanga Rugby Union has not been renewed nor has he enjoyed any game worth mentioning since the conflicting allegations were leveled against him,” Terblanche added.
De Oliviera did not comment on the withdrawal apart from stating that he had not been informed that the case would be withdrawn.
