Polsec: a summary of the most recent crimes in the area

The Polsec is released by the South African Police Service it conveys the latest crime statistics for the city of Mbombela.

The local police issued the weekly Polsec report on Friday. This serves as a guide to dangerous areas, times to be extra vigilant and gives a small peek into the minds of criminals.

House robbery
• Affected areas: Uitkyk and Neil Street Steiltes
• Time: 09:00 and 16:00
• Days: Wednesday and Monday
• Vehicle involved: Neil Street Steiltes;White Golf GTI with GP registration numbers.
• Modus operandi:

  • Uitkyk;Victim threatened with a knife and tied up, An attempt was made to try to rape the victim. Some house hold appliances stolen from the house.
  • Neil Street Steiltes: Victim forced back into his house at gunpoint by approximately four suspects after the victim heard his gate opening and went to go investigate. Suspects demanded safe keys. When the victim informed them that there was no safe the suspects assaulted the victim. The suspects stole TV’s, laptops, car keys and removed CCTV cameras.

Theft out of motor vehicle
• Affected areas: Henshall Street, Waterfall Street, Samora Machel Drive, Riverside Mall Entrance 2, Crossing centre, Old Pretoria Road, Copper Street, Graniet Street, Belladonna Centre, Ilanga Mall, West End Shopping centre, Ferreira Street, Van Wijk Street, Mediclinic, Shepperd Street, Corner of Piet Retief and Celliers Street and the Kamagugu road.
• Time: Between 16:00 and 19:59.
• Days: Occurred from Monday to Friday but Mostly on Tuesday.
• Modus operandi: Breaking windows or opening doors, targeting laptops.

Burglary of residence
• Affected areas: Chestnut Crescent, Kelkiewyn Street, Percy Fitzpatrick Drive, Aquamarine Street, Weltevreden Street, Melkweg Street, Hartbees Street, Marthe Street. Umwabu Street, Florel Street, Du Preeze Street and Kingston Valley.
• Time: Between 18:00 and 07:59
• Days: Between Wednesday and Friday
• Modus operandi: Doors forced open, laptops stolen.
