Lydenburg High School mourns sudden death of 18-year-old learner
The unexpected passing of a learner, Flippie Jansen van Rensburg, has left the Lydenburg school community devastated.
Lydenburg High School (LHS) is mourning the sudden death of 18-year-old learner Flippie Jansen van Rensburg.
The Ohrigstad resident’s passing has deeply affected the school community, friends and fellow learners. In a heartfelt tribute, the school expressed its condolences to Jansen van Rensburg’s family and friends. His death was announced on Saturday, August 29.
Cause of death not confirmed
While the cause of the learner’s death could not be confirmed at the time of publication, unverified reports have indicated that he may have died from meningitis.
Steelburger/Lydenburg News was unable to contact his family for comment.
Remembered for his love of tractors
Hundreds of messages of condolence have been posted on LHS’ Facebook page, with friends and members of the community remembering Jansen van Rensburg fondly.
Several posts highlighted his particular fondness for tractors.
He would have celebrated his 19th birthday on September 18.
