Stop-and-go controls resume on Mbombela’s Johanna Drive
Road users are urged to plan their trips early as YBS Projects carry out 10 days of essential road rehabilitation.
Motorists using Johanna Drive face potential delays as stop-and-go traffic control resumes from Wednesday, September 9, for ongoing road rehabilitation.
YBS Projects site supervisor Patrick Mazibuko said the contractor will close one lane from 08:00 to allow morning traffic to clear before implementing the stop-and-go system.
Mazibuko said the traffic control is expected to remain in place for about 10 days, weather permitting.

“We are calling on road users to plan their trips early to avoid delays. We kindly ask all road users to co-operate and exercise patience during the construction. We understand that motorists sometimes have to wait for the stop-and-go to open, but this is due to the high volume of vehicles using the road,”

“Doing the road piece by piece would not help. It would cause more delays and prolong the construction. We therefore decided to work on the entire section that needs rehabilitation at the same time so that we can finish on time and allow traffic to return to normal,” said Mazibuko.
He also warned motorists to expect additional speed humps along the road, which are being introduced as part of measures to improve road safety.
