Free learning lab for all

There are a variety of activities within the Learning Lab encouraging people to come and learn, interact and open themselves to knowledge and the world at the click of a button.

BURGERSFORT – The new Learning Lab is a computer-based environment situated in the Tubatse Crossing Shopping Centre. There is a variety of activities which encourage people to come and learn, interact and open themselves to knowledge and the world at the click of a button.

The lab is funded by the Siyakha Education Trust. The trust’s dream is to help transform people from being mere faces in a crowd, to people being able to face the crowd. Siyakha Education Trust is the education and community development initiative of Resilient Property Income Fund, Fortress Property Income Fund and Capital Properties. The trust provides sustainable educational projects in rural South Africa, spanning all nine provinces.

It focuses on specialised teaching equipment, rural infrastructure investment, educator knowledge training, professional development support and special needs schools development. In a nutshell, Siyakha Education Trust makes a difference by providing the tools which support education, helping to transform the human resource into an economic asset.

As Limpopo is described as the gateway to Africa with its shared borders, so is Burgersfort the gateway of its own growth, economic sustainability and future. The Siyakha Education Trust Learning Lab earmarked the town because it is not only a harmonious blend of unspoilt beauty and cosmopolitan ambiance, but also based around a diverse community bursting with potential.

The grand opening of the Siyakha Education Trust Learning Lab was held on December 6. It provided a day filled with fun with different performances held at the Tubatse Crossing Shopping Centre. “On Monday morning, after the grand opening we had a long queue of eager citizens in front of the learning lab waiting to register. It’s amazing to see so many people of different ages interested in the international computer driving license (ICDL) training,” said Mr Phillip Roetz, the centre manager and senior ICDL trainer.

People need to register to make use of the Learning Lab. Any original identification documents (ID document, driver’s license, proof of residence or birth certificates) can be used to register. More people of all ages need the opportunity to learn and grow within a skills-transfer environment. The creation of the Siyakha Education Trust Learning Lab has all the necessary features for knowledge to grow and most importantly it is free.
