Importance of putting yourself in their shoes

"Donations must not be for showing off, it must be about what is within our hearts and what we can do to change the lives of the needy," he said.

BURGERSFORT – Well-known author and Pen Foundation founder, Musa “Shoes” Nxumalo encouraged locals to make changes to their communities.

The author took time to tell people about his new book titled, If the Shoe Fits, which was launched last year.

The event was hosted at Cappello Restaurant and was attended by various stakeholders who included representatives of the Limpopo Department of Education, schoolchildren, pastors and many more.

The attendees also each donated a pair of shoes which would be handed out to disadvantaged schools in Tubatse.

Nxumalo told guests that if someone opted to donate anything, he or she must do it willingly.

“Donations must not be for showing off, it must be about what is within our hearts and what we can do to change the lives of the needy,” he said.

Nxumalo asked all the guests to donate school outfits as he realised the hardships schoolchildren endured without uniforms.

“I saw pupils who lacked confidence due to not having uniforms.” said the former maths teacher.

He said people should stop donating worn-out and low-quality products. “If you donate, give something that you can also offer to your kids.”

Nxumalo encouraged locals to buy his book as it outlines more about life and how to make changes in communities. The author is known to many for having led a nationwide campaign over 124 days where he recruited people to raise funds to buy

6 045 school shoes for orphans and vulnerable children.
