Pirates sport flags and swords for the Angels
The focus of Guardian Angels is to offer companionship to the elderly.
A Guardian Angels Golf Day with a pirate theme was recently held at the White River Country club.
All golfers participated and dressed up in their various outfits. Even the golf carts were decorated with pirate flags and swords. Funds raised on the day went towards the organisation.
Hermien van de Venter said all volunteers were invited to join, irrespective of age, religion, race – working or non-working. Volunteers are allocated to one or two elderly, to visit weekly. Once this is done they can assist by the senior citizens by transporting them to town, doctors or just to the mall.
The focus of Guardian Angels is to offer companionship to the elderly. Many live on their own or with their children and would just like a visit from someone. Seniors must register with Guardian Angels first and then a volunteer will be introduced to them if they are available at that branch.
