Since 1993, numerous club competitions have been held annually and approximately 45 000 golfers participate in this challenge each year, for a chance to go onto the finals.

The winners of the A, B and C divisions will play in true style on the impressive Gary Player and Lost City golf courses in Sun City whereafter the national winners will be crowned.

With nearly R70 000 raised this year by all the golf clubs in the Lowveld, it is plain to see that the participants went all out.

On Saturday Barberton Golf Club was very privileged to host the Lowveld Union finals and the weather couldn’t have been better. Saturday’s winners in divisions A, B and C, were Johan Dreyer of Chrome Tubatse Golf Club, Braam Haasbroek of Kruger Park Lodge Golf Club and proud cancer survivor, Willem Bekker of Malelane Golf Club. On October 21 and 22, these winners will participate in the SCC Finals at Sun City and everyone present on Saturday wished them good luck.

This event is backed by distinguished golfer Ernie Els, who at the end of last year’s series, treated the overall winners to a full Ernie Els Experience.
