Mayor holds elegant dinner for international rugby

NELSPRUIT – A dinner was held for the visiting players in the Confederation of African Rugby under 19 on Wednesday night. The tournament was hosted by the Puma’s Rugby Union at Mbombela Stadium.

A very formal dinner was held by Mbombela municipality mayor Cllr Cathy Dlamini on Wednesday night for the visiting teams to South Africa.

The rugby team members of Kenya, Madagascar, Zimbabwe and Namibia, various council members, Puma’s Rugby union members, plus a few guests attended the elegant dinner.

The highlight of the speeches was the International Rugby Board Representitive Mr Jean-Luc Barthes who gave a short speech on how rugby was a sport of strong values, co-operation which he saw in Mbombela and in the people here.

He said organizing an African rugby event was always challenging as the teams mostly played in difficult conditions. “We are very grateful for the superb conditions of Mbombela Stadium.”

He added that the tournament was a start of a strong co-operation between the board and the Puma’s. He then thanked all the people involved in organizing the tournament. Then the mayor handed out gift bags to the visiting coaches and then the superb dinner was served.
