MASHIFANE – A robbery well orchestrated, ended in tears as one thug from the gang of six was allegedly beaten to death by angry community members. The incident happened on September 18, at around 19:10.
Brazen criminals attacked and robbed Imra supermarket wholesale and retail store, leaving with cash estimated to be R250 000. Tubatse police managed to arrive within minutes of the robbery but couldn’t arrest any of the suspects. Staff at the shop outdid the police by apprehending one suspect, he was caught after his partners in crime left him stranded in the shop. The other thug was allegedly beaten and stoned to death by fed up community members who witnessed the whole incident. Four thugs managed to succesfully run from the wrath of justice and the community mob.
CCTV footages of the store, shows the heavily armed suspects entering the store, ransacking everything in the shop and stealing cash, cell phones and airtime vouchers. The security officers are also captured running for their dear lives.
Imram Mahomed manager of the store told Steelburger/Lydenburg news that the thugs entered the shop separately and pointed guns at customers and staff.
“One of them came three times in the shop, buying separate airtime vouchers. When he came for the last time, he pointed a pistol at my brother who was at the till. He demanded money and went to our saves and took our hard earned cash,” cried Mahomed.
He added, “It seems like they planned this for long, they appeared acclimatised to the corners of the store. I suspect they might have had inside information or they are from around Mashifane area.
Tubatse police confirmed that one suspect has been arrested and will appear at Praktiseer magistrate court on September 19. Those with relevant information can call the police on 013-216-8500.
Its not the first time the Pakistani was robbed, he was previously shot on the leg in Modubeng village, when he was travelling to Polokwane. The thugs fled away with his R2000 that day.
