MALALANE – Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after two passengers died when a truck collided with a taxi on Thursday.
This accident happened at the intersection of the N4 and Buffels Street an hour after traffic officials and paramedics had assisted 16 people at another accident scene.
According to an eyewitness, the taxi was turning into the town centre and the truck was on its way in the opposite direction.
The collision occurred when the taxi, as it was turning into town, miscalculated the speed of the truck.
“As it was turning the taxi collided with the truck, with its rear end of the taxi the receiving the major impact, which caused it to spin off the road,” said the eyewitness.
