Mother and son appear for murder
A mother and son have appeared on murder charges in the Eerstehoek Magistrate's Court near Badplaas.

NELSPRUIT – A mother and son appeared on murder charges in the Eerstehoek Magistrate’s Court near Badplaas on Thursday.
It is alleged that 50 year-old tavern owner, Ms Thembile Hlatshwayo, and her estranged husband, Mr Themba Khumalo (50), was involved in an argument when he was as at the tavern with friends on September 14. The altercation allegedly led to her chasing her husband and his friends away, who then went to another tavern nearby.
According to a press release issued by the SAPS, it was revealed to the police that Hlatshwayo allegedly colluded with her 26 year-old son Mr Charles Mtshali and his friends to assault Khumalo. Mtshali and a friend then went to the tavern where they apparently assaulted Khumalo and stabbed him with a knife.
The husband was transported to hospital for medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries the following day.
The police apprehended the pair on charges of murder on September 17. They remain in custody and will apply for bail on September 26.
