Hundreds expected to take part in festivities

The occasion is expected to be graced by members of the executive council and of the executive committee of Mpumalanga House of Traditional Leaders as well others from across the province.

EMJINDINI TRUST – Hundreds of people are expected to descend on Chief Kenneth Nkosi’s kraal at Emjindini Trust to join the annual ummemo cultural function.
According to Julius Matsebula, chief headman, festivities at the Emjindini Traditional Council commenced on September 15, with prayers by various congregations from the region.

The event will be completed with two very important celebrations on Saturday and Sunday.
The occasion is expected to be graced by members of the executive council and of the executive committee of Mpumalanga House of Traditional Leaders as well others from across the province.

Matsebula said unlike last year when the ummemo was concluded on Saturday, this year it will close on Sunday.
“Currently, work that is being done includes boys upgrading the kraal. Such ceremonies teach our boys and girls how to behave in an acceptable way so that they can grow up with good morals and be responsible leaders,” said Matsebula.

Activities that will take place for entertainment purposes will include various traditional groups from as far afield as Swaziland and they will be given an opportunity to perform.

Chief Nkosi is expected to address his people on Sunday when they will gather to celebrate and thank God for giving them life and blessings.
