MASHISHING – A leader of the local civic association, Mr Chris Nkuna is still shocked by an attack on his private Mercedes-Benz during the early hours of last Friday.

“I was woken up by the alarm of my car just minutes after I decided to take a nap, following a long night with my fellow activists from the coalition during a session that we termed a ‘post-mortem’, following our consultative meeting with the masses in the township”.

In a statement written to the police, Nkuna did not rule out the possibility of a political motive that led to his car being badly damaged and did not hesitate to point out to the involvement of some senior Councillors of Thaba Chweu.

“We should not forget that a mysterious pamphlet was distributed, questioning my credentials and calling me and other activists failures. They went on to deal with my car, which I have to pay for from my pocket,” an irate Nkuna said.

The local activist also suspect foul play following the recent hospitalisation of their trusted foot soldier, Mr Timothy Zinyo Nkosi, who was released from the Lydenburg Hospital recently. Now they are also suspicious about the health of their convener, Mr Mandlakayise Mabelane.

“He is always evading us when we need him most and claims that he is ill. We suspect that there is an underground and evil movement which deals with him, like they are doing with some of us,” a member of the coalition, who wanted to remain anonymous said.

When asked for comments about this, Mabelane stated that he is not as worried about the shenanigans of people who defend the wrong things driven by some leaders who were meant to serve the people.

“We will not be deterred by threats and manmade weapons. We ask people who believe in us to pray and wish us well. Victory is certain though!” Mabelane said
