MALALANE – The increase of crime has made more and more people aware of the dangers around them. Malalane Against Crime (MAC) has asked residents to keep detailed information of their electronic products, mainly cellphones and laptops. The idea of this is to assist the police in tracing and apprehending suspects as quickly as possible. MAC has offered to store these details for residents and police services.

According to the organisation every electronic device has a unique serial number (IMEI number) which can be traced, the key is to do so as swiftly as possible.

“Each IMEI number is unique to that device, it never changes and can be identified in any country when used, regardless of whose SIM-card is in it.” To find your IMEI number is simple-in most phones it will appear on the back of the phone behind the battery, or in newer devices use settings – about phone – status – IMEI number, or you can dial *#06#.Send your details to mac.malelane@gmail.com for safe and efficient storage. MAC is in connection with the community police forum and the SAPS. Contact details: SAPS on
