WHITE RIVER – The bail application of three men who had allegedly poached a rhino in the Kruger National Park on October 10, was postponed to next week.
Mr Edwin Mdluli was the first to be apprehended in KaNyamazane later that night, with two horns, a .308 hunting rifle and ammunition in his possession. He allegedly admitted that he was part of a group that had poached a rhino in the Malalane section of the park, two hours before.
Two of his alleged accomplices, Mr Bheki Mdluli and Mr Ralph Malumbo, were apprehended that weekend. They appeared in the local Magistrate’s Court again on Tuesday to apply for bail. Magistrate Mr De Wet Oosthuizen, said, on reading the docket, that it seemed as if one of the other accused had made a pointing out. However, the investigating officer said that it was only an admission.
Oosthuizen then postponed the bail application to next Tuesday for clarification on this. The men were remanded in custody.
