New after-school building for local church

Destitute women in dangerous and challenging circumstances receive livelihood training and hope for a better future. Sanctuary and food are provided for abused and abandoned children.

EMJINDINI – Past Vusi Ngomane of the Alliance Church of God in Emjindini said its new after-school building, which was donated by Beauty from Brokenness Charity, would greatly enhance the care which its preschool already offered.

The official handover of the facilities, which comprise a dining hall and ablution block, was conducted last Friday.

Residents, including teachers at the preschool, were joined by learners and parents who attended the ceremony.

The church was a hub of activity and excitement during the event as dance groups enhanced the occasion with colourful and energetic traditional routines.

Ngomane said he was greatly humbled by the gesture. “We lack words to thank Beauty of Brokenness Charity. We hope that the health of our children will improve to acceptable standards as of today. We have been operating in an unhealthy environment and today we are leaving it all behind,” he said.

The church will also use the dining hall to hold meetings with parents.
Jennifer Wales represented Beauty from Brokenness Charity. It is a Christian-based mission, established in 2010, and committed to addressing critical life issues of women and children living in KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumulanga.

The organisation also aims to change lives and bring hope, practically and in prayer. A small group of volunteers deal with administration and implementation, including travel, at their own cost.

Cllr Anthea Mthunywa thanked the organisation.
“It is charities such as Beauty from Brokenness that assist government to improve the lives of people.”
