BURGERSFORT – It seems that convicted felon, Tumelo Vincent Kgoedi (24), is resuming his horrific crimes after spending three years in prison for robbery.
After being arrested for a second time last year Kgoedi escaped from lawful custody in court by pretending to be someone else, according to Det Capt Mahlathini Ngele. “Prisoners line up in court, seated and waiting to be addressed. When the magistrate called out the name of a prisoner who was supposed to be released that day, Kgoedi answered instead. Criminals copy crime scenes from television.”
According to Ngele, after Kgoedi was arrested for a second time forensics linked his DNA with eight rape cases which were reported in a two-year period. “He targets women at shebeens and buys them a few drinks. If they refuse to have intercourse with him, he pulls a gun on them and rapes them. Many are too scared to report the crime as they fear for their lives.”
He is also wanted for allegedly killing an Ethiopian man after robbing him. “Kgoedi targets spaza shops that are owned by foreigners. He is wanted for crimes in Mashamothane, Riba Cross, Moroke Village, Tubatse, Bothashoek and Leboeng,” said Ngele.
He urges Kgoedi to come forward and surrender, “I request him to hand himself over to the police to avoid things getting messy. He has always been on the run. If anyone has information on about him or sees him, phone me on 083-695-9543.”
A reward of R10 000 has been issued for any information that will lead to his arrest.
