HAZYVIEW – The search is still on for suspected bank robbers in the area. Lowvelder reported yesterday that the police and security companies were on the lookout for four suspects.
The Absa Bank in Thulamahashe was allegedly robbed shortly before 10:00 on Friday. The suspects, who are armed, fled the scene in a White Mercedes-Benz.
They were believed to be travelling in the direction of Hazyview. Sources said that road blocks were set up between Thulamahashe and Hazyview in order to apprehend the suspects.
By this afternoon, no confirmation could be obtained that anyone has been arrested in connection with the robbery.
As far as is known, nobody was injured during the robbery, but it is believed that the robbers made off with a large sum of money.
