Farm attack at Alkmaar

The two suspects are still at large and can be linked to other incidents.

NELSPRUIT – Cell phones, money and jewellery were the target of a farm attack yesterday.

According to Bossies Community Justice, the incident took place on a smallholding at Alkmaar. Hi-Tech Security Nelspruit, J&M Security and the White River Flying Squad were also on the scene.

The attack saw two adults and a two- or three-year old held at gunpoint by two armed men. Both wore black clothes and balaclavas. Both suspects were armed, with a 38 revolver and a 9mm pistol, respectively.

According to Mr Jacques Meiring, operational head of Bossies, the family contacted Hi-Tech as soon as their assailants left, at 22:43. They said that they had let the dogs out to do their business when the suspects just walked in the backdoor.

The suspects tied the man up on the couch and demanded their phones, cash and jewellery without touching the televisions or laptops. They also undertook a futile search for a safe.

He said that the family’s descriptions of the suspects and weapons matched those of the men who were responsible for a recent attack at Uitkyk. According to Meiring, Hi-Tech tracked the suspects’ footprints to another house on another property where the residents were not home, but the house was ransacked.
